A summary of John's Prolog

In John 1:1-3, it is stated that the Word was both with God and was God, existing from the beginning, and that all things were created through Him, with nothing made without Him. Verses 4-5 reveal that in the Word was life, and this life served as the light for humanity, shining in the darkness, which did not comprehend it. John 1:6-10 introduces John the Baptist, sent by God to testify about this light, so that all might believe through him. Although John was not the light himself, he proclaimed the true light that illuminates every person entering the world. Despite the light being present in the world, created by Him, the world did not recognize or accept Him (John 1:11). However, those who did receive Him were given the power to become sons of God, born not of human will but of God's will (John 1:12-13). The Word, who was also the light and life of men, became flesh and dwelt among humanity, yet many did not accept Him (John 1:14). John the Baptist testified about this Word, declaring that the one who came after him was preferred before him, for He existed before him (John 1:15). In verses 16-17, it is emphasized that from this fullness, grace was received, contrasting the law given through Moses with the grace and truth that came through Jesus Christ. This Jesus, who became flesh, is the one who grants power to those who believe in Him to become children of God. Finally, John 1:18 notes that no one has seen God, but the only begotten Son, who is close to the Father, has made Him known, highlighting the glory of the Son who was rejected by His own.
